A full-body massage mat is a great way to enjoy on-demand massage – wherever you are.
A heated massager pad can relieve your aching back, neck, and leg muscles, boost your blood circulation and quickly relieve your stress – in less than 30 minutes.
And it can be used as a massage pad for the bed, on the floor, or seated on a couch or sofa.
What a great way to float away at the end of the day, while your aches and stiffness fade into a warm bliss.
So, what is the best massage mat of 2024?
Overview
Top Pick
Our top pick for 2024 is the Snailax Massage Mat (Model 363M) with 10 vibration motors and 6 heating areas. Here’s why:
- Made from comfortable and supportive memory foam
- Flexible and foldable – can be used on any surface
- Various massage modes and intensities
- Full body heat and massage coverage
- Longest running time (30-minute auto shut off)

Note: The heat function is not the main issue here. The heat feels warm and relaxing, but if you want to use heat for pain relief – we recommend using a large infrared heating pad.
Infrared heat penetrates up to 2.5 cm into your body and is clinically proven to relieve pain without medication.
How to Choose a Full Body Massage Mat
When you choose a full-body massage mat, check for the number of massaging zones and which body areas they cover (the more the better), whether it has a deep-tissue Shiatsu massage option, the ability to adjust settings (heat settings, zone settings, and timer), flexibility (for using on a recliner and for easy storage), and the comfort level of the materials (plush cover is best).
How Much Do Full Body Massage Mats Cost?
An electric massage mat’s price depends on a few factors, including the size, the number of massage motors, massage zones, intensity levels, and added features such as a timer.
Generally, the price ranges from $70 to $170, but a Delux model (made of higher-priced materials and more massage coverage) can cost up to $300.
For example, the lowest massage mat on this list (Relaxzen) costs about $60, and the highest (Comfier) costs $104.

The Comrelax mat is the only massage mat on this list that does not have a heat function, but it does offer a unique massage type that the other ones do not.
Instead of rolling massage, it offers air compression massage for your upper body (feels like human hands), and vibration massage for your thighs.
It will squeeze (by blowing up and deflating), and push up your neck, lower back, and waist while vibrating your thigh muscles – separately or simultaneously – it’s your choice.
It has 3 massage modes and 3 intensity levels for air massage and you can choose the best one for you from the intuitive controller.
You can always lower the intensity if you feel the squeezing is too hard.
It’s pretty powerful and feels so good on the back, neck, and waist.
The neck pillow height is adjustable via Velcro so you can lengthen the massage mat by a few inches, which makes it fit taller people.

With 10 motors spread on the mat, the Relaxzen vibrating massage mat covers your neck to your calves, plus heat to your lumbar area.
It has 50% more padding compared to its original model, which makes it more comfortable as a mattress, but results in a less effective massage.
The heat function targets the lumbar area only, and you can’t use it without the massage.
The Relaxzen massage mat is a good choice if your budget is limited, and will help you relax and relieve achy muscles at the end of the day.
It has a comfortable cover and a user-friendly LED remote control, which can be used to choose which areas you’d like to focus on (4 massage zones or all at once for full body treatment) and to adjust the intensity level (1-3).
The Relaxzen comes in 3 different models. One of them comes with a removable cover and a removable pillow you can wash. So, if you choose a light color, we recommend getting this so you’ll be able to clean it easily.

- Can be used with or without heat
- Durable construction.
- The cover is soft and comfortable
- Doesn’t smell, and isn’t loud.

Pro Tip
Using the ThermaChill pain relief roll-on as a topical pain ointment before using the massage mat – can greatly enhance your pain relief.
I love how it absorbs quickly, is mess-free, and the cool pain-relieving sensation. It enhances the vibration massage – so it’s great.
Massage Mat Side Effects
Some people may experience temporary side effects such as soreness after using an electric full-body massage mat, especially if the intensity or pressure is too high.
The skin may also become a bit red or irritated (temporarily).
It is important to start with a lower intensity and gradually increase as needed.
If you heat your body for more than 10 minutes and you start to sweat – remember to hydrate.
Also, those with certain medical conditions or injuries may experience discomfort or aggravation of their condition, so they need to use it with care or consult with a doctor first – especially pregnant women.
What is an Electric Massage Mat Used for?
Electric massage mats can be used for a variety of purposes. They can help to alleviate muscle tension, reduce stress, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.
They may also be used to help with pain management, such as in the case of chronic back pain or other musculoskeletal issues.
If you practice Yoga, you can use it as your mat and get the benefits of a vibrating massage during your exercise. Another unconventional use is placing it under your feet for a warm and soothing foot massage.
How Long and How Often Can You Use a Massage Mat?
Most experts recommend using a massage mat for 15-20 minutes, up to 3 times a day.
It mostly depends on your preferences, the intensity level you choose, and of course, the free time you have.
An interesting study made by Emory University has found that frequent massage reduces the production of stress hormones (cortisol and arginine vasopressin), and that repeated massage has a cumulative positive effect on the immune system and increases oxytocin (associated with positive emotions, affiliation, and bonding).

I want to know what is the noise level on these massage mats
The noise level is under 60 decibals.
I have herniated discs in my lower back, sciatica, and charley horses at night. Which unit do yo recommend for use with a mattress (preferably on top)>
All of these massage mats can be used on a mattress. I recommend the Snailax – it is the second year I find them to be the best brand. I hope this helps:)
Please let me know if the snailax massagd mat can be delivered to Ireland
It is suppsed to, but not at the moment. They could be low on stock right now.
I’m looking for a full vibrator zone-selectable massage mat that also has heat throughout. Any suggestions?
Yes, Carla:) the first mat in this post is the best fit, here’s the link for it: https://amzn.to/2vaRrHG
I need a massage (not vibrate) mat or heating pad that has a three-prong grounded plug because I have a pacemaker. It must be a grounded unit. I have Fibro and spine issues. Heat supper important. Massage might be nice, but want to choose heat with or without massage. Thank you.
Hi. I have horrible restless leg syndrome and I’ve come to realize that a vibrating massager works wonders!! Which mat is the strongest? My rls only occurs in one thigh or the other.
For restless legs I would actually use an infrared massager – percussion can be great too, not just vibration.
Hello! I’m in search of all the best things to use for pain/stress relief in patients with Fibromyalgia. Since the war on opiates (well, really, the war on anything that might make us have a nap here or there…the latest? No Phenergan or Fioricet for migraines!)
These look like excellent pads! I live with heat pads, which I can’t use but a few minutes at a time because I can’t regulate my body temperature. (Ain’t it a party in my body?)
But here’s a question or two — are these washable at all? And how long are the power/ac cords? For some reason, and I don’t have any idea why, home builders would rather hit their Mamas than put in enough electrical outlets or linen closets…sigh…
Penny,
The cord in the Relaxzen is approximately 3 feet. Not very long but sufficient to be plugged in next to bed or chair or couch. You can’t wash it since it’s electric, but you can use a thin cloth over it and it won’t interfere with the massage. I hope this helps and enjoy!
Hi ..i’m Looking for a massage mat..vibrating mats and pillows make me feel sick. Which one inexpensive one do you suggest? I have distributed chronic pain, and surgeries to my neck and lumbar. Massage gives some relief. Thank you
If vibrating doesn’t work for you – I suggest getting a Shiatsu massage chair.
