Nubax Trio Back Traction Review (Better than Inversion?)

Quick Summary…

The Nubax Trio is a portable back traction device that provides gentle but firm traction for an effective treatment of spinal pain from a wide range of chronic back conditions.

It doesn’t require hanging upside down, it’s easy to use, and it only requires 5 minutes of daily treatment. It is mobile, lightweight, and safe to use with eye conditions.

However, some users may experience discomfort during use, and it may not provide enough traction for certain back conditions. Also, it doesn’t stretch the neck.

The Australian-made Nubax Trio has become one of the most popular back traction devices in the last few years, especially for people who can’t use (or are stressed by) inversion tables.

Is the Nubax back stretcher a safer alternative to inversion tables? Does it relieve back pain?

The answers to these (and more questions) are in this Nubax Trio Review.

How Does the Nubax Trio Work?

nubax trio how does it work

The Nubax uses a gravitational pull to initiate a spinal stretch in a way that you can’t possibly do on your own.

This stretch creates a separation in your vertebrae, which takes the load off your spinal discs and nerves while allowing your back muscles to fully relax and heal.

The stretch increases blood circulation too and allows for healing nutrients to get to the injured area faster, which speeds up the healing process.

Traction therapy, the practice of lengthening the spine, has been used for decades to relieve back pain from herniated/bulging discs, back arthritis, sciatica, muscle injuries, and pinched nerves.

Even children with beginning signs of scoliosis can use the Nubax Trio to restore proper spinal alignment.

it adapts easily to the size of a child and is clinically tested to be effective.

Who Can Benefit from the Nubax Trio?

The Nubax spine decompression device can help with the following conditions:

  • Sciatica
  • Bulging & herniated discs
  • Back muscle knots and spasms
  • Arthritis & spinal osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Pinched Nerves
  • Scoliosis
  • Back stiffness

When you stretch your back with the Nubax Trio portable back traction device, it creates a negative vacuum in your spine.

Just enough pressure to “suck” your disc back into the spot it’s supposed to be in.

This “lifts” the disc off the nerve and relieves your pain – sometimes instantly.

As you lean forward in the Nubax machine, it decompresses and stretches your spine, creating a separation in your vertebrae, and relieving pressure on your spinal discs and nerves.

The best thing about the Nubax Trio is that you’ll only need 3-6 minutes of treatment per day, to get the most benefits out of it.

Nubax Trio Pros and Cons

The advantages of using the Nubax Trio include ease of use, effective stretch without hanging upside down, short treatment time (5 minutes) which is great for busy people, taking less space than gravity tables, easy storage, and allowing for adjustable tension when you stretch.

The disadvantages of the Nubax include not allowing for a neck stretch (only full back), having to bend your knees (not fit for people with knee pain), and lesser blood circulation boost than inversion tables.

How Do You Use the Nubax?

Here’s the answer from the official website:

Nubax has two axes rotating around a central pivot point. You lie across the top of the frame with your hips on one axis and your shoulders on the other.

Gravity pulls you downward, creating a stretch along the spine that separates the vertebrae so that nutrients can enter the disc space. The pressure is then taken off the nerves with no bending or twisting involved.

We recommend that you take time to experiment with adjusting the belt at the waist and the starting position outlined in our manual.

How Fast Can You Feel Relief with the Nubax?

Through my research, I’ve seen many people reporting immediate pain relief using the Nubax Trio back pain reliever, even after just one session.

But for many others, it took about 2-3 weeks to feel significant effects – including a 90% reduction in pain, improved posture, flexibility, and stiffness reduction.

Since it only takes 5 minutes of your day, give it a chance for at least 2 weeks before you decide if it works for you.

I was blown away by one of the reviews on Amazon, written by an 80-year-old woman, suffering from osteoarthritis for 7 years, knee and hip problems, and pinched nerves.

Is it Painful to Use the Nubax Spinal Stretcher?

Some people are worried about the Nubax requiring you to bend on your knees to stretch your back, but if you’re worried about your knees or hips – don’t. You can simply put a thick pillow under your knees and some people use it on their bed.

The stretch itself can be somewhat painful, you’ll need to know when to stop to avoid further damage. That point is when the pain is unbearable.

Is the Nubax Easy To Assemble?

Like I’ve said before, 80-year-old people use it daily with no problems. It comes well packaged and well made. It takes 10 minutes max to put together and is easy to understand.

Your package will arrive with a short manual with a step-by-step (with pictures) guide to assembling the Nubax.

It also shows you how to adjust the shoulder pads and waist belt, how to get out of the Nubax (for those with joint problems), the best times to use it, and more useful info.

Nubax Trio Storage

nubax trio size and storage
Easily folds for storage

The Nubax weighs 16 pounds (size:  17 x 31.5 x 22.5 inches) and you can pick it up and easily store it under your bed, in a closet, or anywhere else with just a few feet of space.

Nubax Trio Side Effects

Using the Nubax back stretcher may cause an awkward and uncomfortable feeling on your shoulders. To prevent it,  position the back of your upper arms against the pads, with your wrists on the handlebars. This takes the pressure off the shoulders.

It takes a little “playing around” and adjusting until you reach the most comfortable position.

We would also recommend using a thick pillow under your knees and placing your feet against the wall to keep your knees from moving backward

Nubax Trio Price

The Nubax Trio costs about $290, anywhere online. The price may seem high, but if you compare it to the cost of a DRX9000 treatment at the chiropractor or the price of surgery, it may not seem so high anymore.

Nubax Trio vs. Inversion Table

Here are the most important differences between inversion tables and the Nubax:

1. The Nubax Trio spine decompression machine is smaller and takes up much less space than an inversion table. It’s portable, while an inversion table is not.

2. An inversion table will decompress your spine using the force of gravity. You invert at a certain angle (from as low as 30 degrees to full inversion – hanging upside down) and gravity pulls your vertebrae apart.

3. Some people are not very keen on hanging upside down, and it can cause a few temporary side effects, like dizziness and a slight headache. For others, inversion can be dangerous.

The Nubax Trio does not require hanging upside down at any angle, and spinal decompression is created through active stretching (but with very little effort on your part).

However, you can’t use it for neck traction, you’ll need a neck traction device or an inversion table for the neck area.

4. No Strain On Your Joints – The Nubax requires little effort on your part and causes no strain on other joints in your body.

Some people complain about joint strain from using an inversion table. You don’t have to worry about that with the Nubax Trio.

In the past few years, the Stamina Inline Traction Control system. This traction device works the same way the Nubax Trio does, only it does not require you to kneel down when you stretch your back.

For people with knee problems, this is a very good alternative.

Conclusion

While chiropractor visits are very helpful for back pain relief, spinal decompression, and spine alignment, you can get the exact same benefits from the Nubax Trio – for a fraction of the cost – without spending hours going to and coming back from a chiropractor.

The Nubax Trio seems like a high-quality device, the stretch is powerful yet effortless and the treatment time is incredibly short, making it possible for anyone – no matter how busy they are.

Results are very good, and the only question is how long it will take to work, and not IF it works.

We would definitely recommend the Nubax Trio. It’s a highly effective device that will in the long term save you a lot of money and time.

I can’t claim this is the “only” treatment you’ll need to keep your back healthy and pain-free for the rest of your life since back pain is always caused by a combination of underlying causes.

However, the Nubax is a device that I recommend to everyone suffering from back pain and my preferred spinal decompression device (even more than inversion tables).

To your health and happiness,

  1. Am I understanding correctly that to get increased decompression, one needs to lean further forward? And that the maximum decompression would be achieved with the torso at a 90-degree angle to the hips/legs? Mr. Herron demonstrated to about a 40-degree angle. Was this so that people do not start off overdoing it?

  2. I have sciatic pain, & the orthopedic Dr. sent me to Physical Therapy, 3 X week, for 2 months. They had a machine that was heavy duty, that strapped your thighs down, & you pushed handles away from you, & the pain went away. But it came back about a year later. I looked Sciatic Pain up on the internet, & it told me about NUBAX. I ordered it for $299. & they paid the shipping. I’ve been using it for 4 minutes a day since then, before breakfast, because the foam strap goes in front of your stomach. I also put a folded rubber mat over the bar that the front of your legs touch, & that helped the front of my legs from getting indentations on the bones. When I go out of town for a week or so, the pain doesn’t come back. I just start again when I get home.
